They kickstarted the IPL with a famous win in the inaugural edition. They have always been dark horses and have performed more than
expectations. They buy players miserly but utilize them wisely. Do not ever make
the mistake of writing them off.
The Local talent – Small names, Big
dreams.
They have Rahul Dravid, who is
their mentor and captain, one of most respected players of the country. His
leadership and simplicity should motivate the young and aspiring RR youth. A
Rahane was their hero last IPL, showing the world he can be destructive in
this format as well. He would looking to continue his good run this season as well. S
Sreesanth would be keen to leave an impression to make
his way back into the Indian ranks. They have few other smaller known names like
A Menaria, S Trivedi, S Binny, A Singh.
The Overseas Talent – Blend of Youth & Experience
The force of Shane
Watson, is integral to their team composition. His availability for entire IPL
would be a big boost to the team, but at the same time his form and whether he
could be used for bowling due to his fitness will still create some worry for
them. They have the experienced B Hodge, O Shah & B Hogg in their ranks.
Youngsters J Faukner & K Cooper, both of who are seaming allrounders are
smaller names who could add value to their team balance. S Tait & F Edward
add to the pace zing, whereas pocket size KJ Perera could be a dynamite if
drafted into to the XI.
Injury Concerns & The Srilankan
Impact – Not much except the fitness of Shane Watson. Nothing to worry on the
Lankan front.
Likely XI – 1) A
Rahane, 2) S Watson, 3) R Dravid, 4)
A Menaria, 5) B Hodge / O Shah, 6) S
Binny, 7) J Faukner / K Cooper, 8) S
Trivedi, 9) S Tait, 10) S Sreesanth, 11) A Singh
